This painting was inspired by the architecture found in New Orleans. Not only in the French Quarter but also in Uptown and the Garden District. Recently I spent a weekend visiting a friend who lives in an old orphanage built in the 1800s that was converted to condominiums. It is located on Napoleon Avenue in Uptown and while this particular architectural element in the painting is not from that building, it is painted as a tribute to New Orleans' architectural diversity that is so reflective of its rich history and to that wonderful weekend with very gracious hosts. Whenever I visit, I am always charmed by this very old and diversified city.
